Specialty Grocery Store Planned for Steve McKeever's North City Development in Fort Worth
A new grocery store construction project is moving forward within the massive North City development in north Fort Worth, adding another commercial component to one of the region's largest master-planned projects.
According to state filings, a 12,500-square-foot retail shell building designed to accommodate a specialty grocer is planned at 9000 North City Drive. The project carries an estimated construction valuation of $1.6 million and is expected to begin in August 2026 with completion anticipated in April 2027.
The new grocery store construction will be located within the broader North City development spearheaded by developer Steve McKeever. The mixed-use project is expected to bring a combination of residential, retail, office, and entertainment uses to the rapidly growing area of north Fort Worth.
City permit records show that a commercial grading permit covering approximately 3.25 acres remains under review at the time of writing. The site work has been assigned to ClayMoore Engineering and includes private utilities, grading, storm drainage, paving, and landscape improvements necessary to support the lot's future development.
State filings identify O'Brien Architects as the design firm for the project. As North City development continues to advance, the planned specialty grocery store represents another milestone in Steve McKeever's vision for the transformative Fort Worth project.
