Private School Southwest Christian in Fort Worth Outlines 30-Year Vision for Campus Growth and Facility Improvements
Southwest Christian School in Fort Worth - one of the city’s leading private schools — recently advanced its long-range master plan, a flexible 30-year vision designed to guide the school’s continued growth and development over time. The conceptual plan includes ideas such as expanded athletic facilities, arts performance spaces, and potential future educational buildings that reflect the institution’s commitment to providing exceptional academic and co-curricular opportunities for students.
While the plan includes a potential location for an elementary school at the Lakeside Campus, Southwest Christian currently has a thriving elementary campus at 6801 Dan Danciger Road (the Chisholm Trail Campus) and no active plans to relocate it. The school’s current focus is on addressing its most immediate facility needs, specifically developing drawings for an athletic performance center, with an arts performance space anticipated within the next 10 years.
Comprehensive Campus Vision
According to filings with the City of Fort Worth, the master plan covers approximately 71 acres at 7900 Old Granbury Road. Conceptually, the plan outlines possible future improvements such as enhanced internal roadways, new driveways, and the development of additional gymnasium and weight room facilities, softball, baseball, tennis courts and practice fields.
As with any long-term vision, specific projects and timelines will evolve based on the school’s priorities and resources. At this stage, no construction timeline has been finalized.
Southwest Christian School: Academics, Athletics, and Arts Excellence
Founded in 1969, Southwest Christian School (SCS) has grown into one of Fort Worth’s premier Christ-centered, college preparatory institutions. The school operates on two campuses — the Chisholm Trail Campus (Early Education–Grade 6) and the Lakeside Campus (Grades 7–12) — together serving roughly 1,030 students and emphasizing academic excellence, spiritual formation, and leadership development.
Athletics play a vital role in student life at SCS. The school competes in the TAPPS 5A athletic conference and fields competitive teams in football, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, track and field, cross country, volleyball, golf, tennis, cheer, and bass fishing — the latter being a particularly fitting addition given the school’s beautiful setting overlooking Benbrook Lake.
In addition to upper school athletics, organized sports programming begins in third grade, allowing younger students to participate in local developmental leagues alongside their school friends and teammates.
The planned facility improvements will further strengthen the school’s athletic and arts programs, providing state-of-the-art spaces for training, performance, and competition.
Design and Site Planning by Corgan and Westwood Professional Services
The master plan lists Corgan, a Dallas-based architecture and design firm, as the designer of record. Known nationally for its innovative learning environments, Corgan brings extensive experience in education and institutional projects.
Site planning services are being conducted by Westwood Professional Services, which operates a Fort Worth office on Hillwood Parkway and provides civil engineering, land surveying, and site design expertise for major developments across Texas and beyond.
Looking Ahead
As the vision progresses, future updates will clarify specific project phases and priorities. While some elements of the plan may evolve, the heart of the initiative remains constant — to create spaces that enhance learning, encourage excellence, and reflect the school’s mission:
“Southwest Christian School provides a Christ-centered, college preparatory education that graduates young adults equipped as Christian leaders in the world.”
